Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website, plugins, or contact us for support. We’re musicians and creators too, and we treat your data with the same respect we’d want for our own.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into our End User License Agreement (EULA). In the event of any conflict between the EULA and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to personal data.

1. What We Collect (and Why)

We collect only the information that’s necessary to provide our services and improve your experience.

From you directly:
– Email Address — If you sign up for our newsletter, create an account, or contact us for support.
– Name — Only if you provide it, such as in support emails or at checkout.
– Purchase Information — If you buy a plugin, transaction data is handled through our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal). We do not see, collect, or store your credit card or bank details — those go directly to the payment processor. At checkout we do collect and store a billing address, which we need to calculate the correct taxes (such as VAT or sales tax) and to keep proper records for tax and accounting purposes.
– License Key Information — When you purchase, we generate a license tied to your account so we can deliver your product, provide support, and verify ownership if you contact us.

From your use of our plugins:
– Our plugins currently operate offline and do not transmit data from your computer to us. In the future, we may introduce online features such as license verification, anti-piracy checks, or optional anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the product. If we do, we will update this policy before those features are enabled. Any usage analytics will be off by default and will never include your audio, project files, file names, or file paths.
– Note: High Flyer is sold, distributed, and supported exclusively by Plugin Alliance, LLC under their own privacy policy and DRM system. This Privacy Policy does not apply to High Flyer. For information about how your data is handled when you use that product, please refer to Plugin Alliance, LLC’s own privacy policy.

From your visit to our website:
– We use Cloudflare Analytics and Google Analytics to understand general traffic patterns (pages visited, approximate location, device type, referring site). This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics uses cookies; you can opt out using your browser settings or Google’s opt-out tools.

We do not collect audio files, project data, or anything unrelated to running our business and supporting our plugins.

2. How We Use Your Info

We use your information to:
– Deliver and support the plugins you’ve purchased
– Verify your license and provide customer support
– Respond to customer inquiries
– Send you updates if you’ve subscribed
– Improve our products and website
– Comply with our legal obligations (such as tax and accounting rules)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Ever.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (for EU/UK users)

If you’re in the EU, UK, or another region covered by GDPR or similar laws, we process your data under the following legal bases:
– Contract — To deliver the plugins you purchased and provide support.
– Consent — For newsletter emails and, in the future, any opt-in telemetry.
– Legitimate Interest — For basic website analytics, security, fraud prevention, and improving our products.
– Legal Obligation — For tax records and responding to lawful requests.

4. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data only as long as we need it:
– Account and license information: For as long as you have an active account, plus a reasonable period afterward so we can still help if you return or have a warranty question.
– Purchase records: As long as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
– Support emails: Up to 3 years, so we can reference past issues if you contact us again.
– Newsletter subscription data: Until you unsubscribe.
– Website analytics: Aggregated data may be kept indefinitely; individual-level data follows the retention defaults of Cloudflare and Google Analytics.

If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so except where we’re legally required to keep it (such as tax records).

5. Your Rights

You have full control over your data. At any time, you can:
– Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
– Ask us to correct or delete your data
– Ask us to export your data in a portable format
– Withdraw consent for anything you previously opted into
– Unsubscribe from our emails
– Object to certain kinds of processing

If you’re in the EU or UK and you think we’ve mishandled your data, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We’d appreciate it if you reached out to us first so we can try to make it right.

To make any request, contact us through our contact page.

6. Third-Party Services

We work with a few trusted services to run our business:
– Stripe and PayPal — Payment processing. Your card and bank details go directly to them; we never see or store them.
– Cloudflare — Website hosting, security, and analytics.
– Google Analytics — Website analytics.
– Email and hosting providers — For newsletters, support email, and account services.

These services only use your data to help us provide what you signed up for, and are contractually bound to handle it confidentially. Some of these providers are based in the United States, which means your data may be transferred internationally. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms to protect your data.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data. No system is perfect, but we do our best. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities without undue delay, as required by applicable law.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our plugins and website are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 (or under 13 in the United States, per COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll post the updated version here with a new revision date. If the changes are significant — especially if we start collecting new kinds of data, like telemetry or online license heartbeats — we’ll let you know by email (if you’re subscribed) and, where required, ask for your consent before the changes apply to you.

10. Who’s Responsible

The data controller for your personal information is:

Cut Classic, Inc.
600 1st Ave STE 102 PMB 2078, Seattle WA 98104
[email protected]

11. Questions?
